No idea which of Wrighty or MacDonald would be the best manager for STFC. I guess Wright would be more of a nutcase, so I'll favour him.

If it's out of Wright and MacDonald I would rather Wright because of the publicity, he probably knows a lot of people too. I don't think I could handle another dour Scotsman, we've had far too many.

Only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Macari, Sturrock and Malpas. Malpas was a wally but Lou and PS did decent jobs.

Sturrock may have done a decent job but you can't argue that he wasn't dour.

Quite the opposite in my opinion. Our success under Di Canio came about because he was a top coach who drilled the players relentlessly, sought perfection and understood the game, not because he was an extrovert. It is the former of his character traits that we most need to replicate in his successor, not the latter.

I don't mind if his replacement is an extrovert, but he must foremost be someone who thinks deeply about the game and can get enough of his knowledge across to the players to succeed. I am not convinced Ian Wright thinks deeply about very much.

All of this!

I agree, but dour or not, if he does a good job, does it really matter?

Even Jock Dave in the ticket office said Sturrock was dour.

Just a quick thought - if Ian Wright was that interested in management why hasn't he had a go by now?

At least Trevor McDonut has been involved for years

I'm sorry, no one who holds press conferences in a jacuzzi, in Devon, in December can ever be described as dour.

Sturrock did a good job but it was such a boring time for the club, if I recall correctly in the 06/07 season we only scored more than 2 goals in a game once under Sturrock, Lincoln away. Most games were 1-0's, 2-1's etc.

Let's not even mention Malpas.

So having read around a bit about McDonald, I'd support his appointment.

Fits with the boards idea of bringing the youth team back into the picture a little more.
