The Advertiser understands a deal is close to being agreed which could see a British-based consortium buy up a large chunk of Andrew Black’s 98 per cent shareholding in Swindon Town, with an initial agreement potentially being reached before the end of the month.

Excellent. I know it doesn't actually make much difference but domestic owners sounds more reassuring.

As long as it's not Ridsdale, that is.

It all could have been so different last time around.  Shudder.

I'd add on Berlusconi for some of the funding, giving us the dream team of;

- Manager : Paolo
- Director of football : Venables
- Chief Exec : Ridsdale
- Chairman : Bates
- Owner : Berlusconi

That would be one cluster fuck of a football club. We'd never be out of the news.

Sorry!  Not my intention to cause any alarm.   Cheesy

Apologies to anyone who choked on their lunch.  Mercifully, the Adver link is 5½ years old.

100% agree with JW on this (oooh, just noticed that - John Ward/Jeremy Wray, spooky. Anyone ever seen them in the same room together?)

And after a period of dormance, nice to see the Trust coming back out of the closet a bit more recently, and doing so with considerable aplomb IMO. Well done Mr Ward.

Yes, I believe when Jezza Wray came to a Trust meeting around the time the consortium took over the club.

Yes actually! London_red and I had a pint with the two of them in the Gluey before last weeks' game along with a couple of other London Reds.  Embarrassed
