Golden handshake as Town pay up Risser's contract in full

SWINDON Town paid up Oliver Risser’s contract in full in order to allow the midfielder to leave the County Ground, the Advertiser understands.

The only downside to STFC at the moment for me, we're an incredibly soft-touch when it comes to offloading players.

We certainly are a soft touch when it comes to honouring legally binding contracts. Who'd have thought it.

It is standard practice for a player to get the remainder paid up, so I believe. It may be reduced if the player would rather go (for higher wages and/or signing on fee elsewhere) or no payment at all if the player requests a move.

It is standard practice for a player to get the remainder paid up, so I believe. It may be reduced if the club and player agree a settlement, for instance if it is in the player's interests to go (for higher wages and/or signing on fee elsewhere) or no payment at all if the player formally requests a move. Happy to be corrected by those more in the know!

Perhaps, paid up in full, means that Aldershot were only prepared to pay a small amount and we've agreed to top it up so that he earns what he's contracted to earn. That would explain why PDC said that his leaving would free up some funds to sign Martin and Hollands for a further month

Good luck to Risser. I can't believe his wages would have been that high and at least he gave 100% unlike some of the other cunts we paid off.

I don't think that's the case - seems bizarre doesn't it!

paid up contracts don't count as wages... so paying him up means his salary is freed up in full for the remainder of his contract
