Wilder rules out Oxford return for Cox

LEE Cox will definitely not be returning to Oxford United after the U's failed to agree a deal with Swindon Town.

For just 2 positions (CM) we now have Ferry, Miller, Navarro, Bostock, Risser, Cox, Hollands and Louis Thompson (and that's not including McCormack whose technically a CM and Giles Coke who i assume won't come back though that's hardly been clarified).

It's hardly surprising our wage bill is buggered when you look at all these hangers on who are nowhere near the first team but still left on the payroll. Luke Rooney will no doubt also be back to come under that bracket.

All in all we will have to lose at least one of our loanees from Bostock and Hollands because of our scatter-gun approach in the transfer market, even though they're worth two of most of those players (ferry excepted) and the kind of quality we need to keep pushing on in this league.

Shame. I hear most Oxford supporters would love to have Cox.

I'd like to see us get rid of Cox and Risser, but it's going to prove mighty difficult without paying them off. Louis Thompson may benefit from going out on loan 2nd half of the season.

Would also benefit from a reserve team, been yonks since he must have kicked a ball in a game scenario.
