Has anyone got any suggestions for touristy things to do in Bath - bringing the missus down for her birthday with my 2 teenage kids. We will do the obvious Roman baths, but will have another 3 days to fill. Can anyone help?

The Hanging Gardens of South Twerton are worth a visit. Outside the usually touristy things in the centre there isn't much to do there. Victoria Park is perhaps worth a visit. Rainbow or Padleigh Woods maybe, if you like walking. It's not far to Bristol!

There are a lot of pubs there. The art gallery and abbey are quite good (and free) if your into that sort of thing. Otherwise, most tourists walk around looking at the cat-sick coloured buildings. It's quite an ugly place in the winter.

In terms of pubs, I'd recommend either the The Crystal Palace, Moles cafe , The Porter or, a little off the beaten track, The Royal Oak , which only serves local ales and ciders and which is awesome

Crystal Palace has always flitted between being a good pub and a bad pub- everytime I go there I get the opposite to what I had last time, it's very odd. Is it good again now? (not been in about a year)

Go to the star, drink bass.  Go to the hat and feather.  Go to the King William on London Road for a good Gastropubby type meal.  Walk down the canal path, Bath Skyline walk is quite nice.  Go and watch the rugby if they're at home.

I'm ashamed to say that I spent 5 months living exactly next door to the King William, and only went in twice. It did look nice when I went, but a bit too pricey.

I don't think that was open when I lived there. If it's the place I'm thinking of, it was a Domino's by the time I left
