Does anyone actually get scared or freaked out by horror films? If so, which ones?

I can't remember any horror film ever getting to me, a good few have made me laugh though. The only thing that did freak me out and still sends shivers down my spine is the Doctor Who Blink episode, I haven't felt the same about statues ever since. Nor snowmen now, due to someone doing a Blink remix of the John Lewis Xmas 2012 tv ad;

Horror films just aren't scary. I'm far more likely to be scared by a Sci-Fi or a Thriller.

I don't find them scary either. Occasionally the gore in some films can make me feel a little queasy.

Don't get the chance to watch them that much though because the wife's a massive wimp and refuses to watch them.

I watch loads because my mrs loves them. Antichrist is pretty good. Not scary really but there are some WTF moments and the photography is amazing.

There have been some good serializations on TV over the years - Salems Lot springs to mind, although it might seem a bit dated now.

BBC1 started an adaptation of a James Herbert novel last night, The Secret of Crickley Hall - it was sa very promising start.

Stephen King's IT is the one I find the 'scariest', more because you you see IT from a kids perspective and then that fear comes back when they're adult. Even so I think horrors just seem to creep me out at best rather than scare me.

I much prefer a decent psychological thriller, quite often the mindfuck can creep me out more than any horror. Or something of a crossover, like Kill List which is a decent thriller which somehow turns into a confused and rather bizarre ending which makes no sense to the rest of the film. But the ending leaves your mind in tatters.

I don't find them scary, they just seem to make you jump. I did quite enjoy Paranormal Activity, although telling the bird I watched it with that it was real, and her believing me, no doubt meant she enjoyed it more.

I watched The Blair Witch Project in the cinema and there were parts of that which genuinely scared me shitless. I recall having to look away from the screen and relax a couple of times. I thought that was superb.

When I was younger, films like Nightmare on Elm Street were good and I also remember The Entity and Salem's Lot, giving me very uncomfortable and sleepless nights for seemingly weeks on end.

The missus read that and gave it to me to read a few years back. Scared the pants off me as a book, be interesting to see how well it does on telly

Have you seen Zombie Lake? Possibly the funniest film I have ever watched - bad story line and very low production values.

One of the scariest films I've seen was Eden Lake, not sure whether you can describe it as a horror film though.

Not everyone would agree but I liked The Blair witch project, and the Japanese version of the ring is also worth a watch (better than the US remake).
