From a bloke down the pub?

Tell him we'll take £10million!

Just think in 2-3 years time we could have Austin and Storey up front together for England Wink

From a Chelsea scout Wink
You can't spit without hitting someone calling themselves a Chelsea scout these days, most of them are spotters for the actual scouts. And some of them are spotters for the spotters. Bloke tried to tell me on Tuesday Chelsea were tracking the Thompson Twins too. He looked quite offended when I fell about laughing (no disrespect to either of the Thompsons, both of whom I rate FWIW)

There do seem to be a few about, to be fair though I know the lad well and he has been working at Chelsea for years.
Whether it comes to anything is another matter.

Fair do's then. Storey would certainly be more credible than the Thompsons.

On a related note, his rise to celebrity status is assured - my lad's best mate recently baffled the barber when he went to get his hair cut and asked for "A Storey, please". Bloke thought he wanted a fairy tale read to him, they had to show him a picture in the Adver Smiley I claim first sighting of a kid asking for "A Storey" cut.

Adie Mings who used to manage Chippenham has gone on to be a Chelsea scout.  For under 12 though I believe.

My 10 year old nephew has been approached by reading.  Cant believe how young they look at them now.

Swindon have an under 7s team now. My lad signed at 8. In hindsight  I wish he joined later.

Why's that arriba?

FWIW, I wholly agree pro clubs sign players way too young these days. But it's a bit of an arms race, if Town don't sign them at 8, then Reading or Southampton will.

I was reading the other day about Man City's academy, they will have 400 players, how the hell will that work?  And Saxondale hope you put your nephew right and told him to stay on the side of light!

He had enough of chasing the dream and quit after 7 years. Club didn't want him to leave.
Others that were there from similar ages also quit of their own accord. They just got fed up with it and at 15-16 are growing fast and have exams etc to consider. A fair few just seem to run out of stream after so long being individually scrutinised, and throw the towel in. Really good players which is a shame.
Lads that came in later were hungrier to make it by 15-16. Imo there are lads in pro club scholarships that aint as good as players who quit. Not all cases though to be fair. Some kids that come in early will see it through so whats good for one might not be for another.

Weirdly he's just not interested.  Not because of the team just because hes a kid and doesnt want to make big decisions like that in his life.
