Wonder if any of you lappy/computer boffins can help me.

An elderly family member who has been very unwell lately has just had Homeline installed for emergency's.
Basicly a telephone line installed with help at the other end if he needs it in an emergency.....any how the consequences of this means that his internet goes down when this is on....which is basicly all the time.
Is there a device i can buy him so he can have both or do i need to get in touch with his broadband supplier(BT).
He has recently lost his lovely wife(yep its been a shit year Sad) so gets very lonely when family members can not be with him...getting him back online is a must...any suggestions please Smiley

i don't know what homeline is but it does sound as if it's got muddled with the broadband line.

i'm sure jj will know exactly what to do as he's some sort of guru but i'd say that the broadband/phoneline supplier are the first stop

A dongle?

End of the day, homeline is much more important than the broadband.

Sounds like he has a faulty microfilter if the internet goes down every time the phone is used.

Sorry if I have misread the problem but usually any dropping out of line while phone is being used is a faulty or missing microfilter, check them all on each socket thats got something plugged into them.

Of course and thats why i have told him not to use it at present....but many elderly have homeline and the internet also so there must be a solution.

Make sure there are micro filters installed on each phone extension.

Maybe I missed something but....

If his internet was working, then someone (SBC?) installed Homeline and now its not working surely the first call to make is to whoever installed it so they can come back and fix whatever they broke?
