THE SWINDON Town board will sit down in the next few days in an attempt to free the club from its current transfer embargo.

Can one of the board's other companies not sponsor us? Betfair on the socks? The Betfair Legends Lounge?

Is it not as easy as jut submitting a reforecast to include the upcoming villa game hence getting the 65% wage cap number up?

Think Mr Wray mentioned the receipts from the Villa game had already been counted as part of the most recent forecast so we need to win the game to have the effect you have described.

How about getting another sponsor on board for the FA Cup which starts next month, much like we did with The People last year. The front page of The People with Benno and the headline "Yes!" still lives safely with all the other old papers

Has it been said how much the 1.5% is in money terms?

No... I'm sure somebody on here must have a rough idea of our annual turnover though?

About £4 - £4.5m seems to ring a bell.  If it was £4m, 66.5% would be £2.66m.  Then you would have to add in the salarys of the Chief exec, Paolo , the coaching staff, the office workers and the groundstaff on top of that.

So the 1.5% by which we are over would amount to a whopping £60k, which would probably be recouped instantly if we were to beat Villa, get a decent away tie in the FA Cup, or be chosen for a TV game.

As far as I understand it, the salary cap is only the playing staff not the club staff and groundstaff/manager etc etc.

Indeed it is.  I do wonder what the total % spents on all salaries is as a % of turnover.  90% maybe?

I've had a novel idea. How about we play by the rules and keep within the salary cap? Maybe offload some players that aren't regulars and maybe even stop signing even more players.

I really do find it incredible given our history that some people think manipulating our budget, begging for new sponsors or relying on cup income is the answer to this problem. We should be setting an example of a well run club and I find it embarrassing beyond belief that we have managed to get in to this position.

I find it incredible that because we have gone slighly over the 65% people are getting all high mighty.  In our forecast we had the £340k for the two players over 2 years, but instead the FA force us to pay it over 1 year.  It is as simple as that!

I bet nearly every club is close to the 65% (as JW said other clubs are in the same position) and because we have more turnover than most means we can spend more than most.

I reckon we should just fuck it and go for broke. If we get to the Premiership for one season it will be worth it.

No it won't. In case you forgot we've been there and done that.
