That was absolute dogshite!
Not one decent performance from any town player barr McCormack, and he was only decent.
Rose was always gonna score against us, always gonna cup his ear and always gonna get abuse about Austin and his wife... calling her a whore was maybe a step too far but tbh there was nothing else in that match to shout about so maybe it was inevitable.

That was possibly the worst game I've seen under Paolo (I was on holiday for Orient).
- Long ball wasn't working, and was obvious from the very outset, yet the tactics remained the same. - On this note, Troy played a cracking through ball to Williams (along the floor) that almost set up a chance in the first few minutes... from this point onwards, he assumed what appeared to be his sole role of the player of aimless lofty hoofs. The tactics appeared to be Macca to Troy, then straight up to Benson via the now redundant Lyneham flight path. - Navarro was shite. The very fery few times we gave the ball to our midfield, he wasted it. - We never utilised Ritchie, which is criminal seeing as he only had Rose for company all night. He wasn't double marked, but never got the ball. This is down to Bessone being rubbish, and our CM's not getting the ball to him. - We came off second best in all 50/50 challenges except when Jay took out the corner flag. - Our set pieces were shocking. I had to leave before the final whistle having seen yet another poorly thought out and shittly executed short corner hit the first man yet again. We should have corners and free-kicks nailed by now. - The goal: was the wall in the wrong place, or did it just split/jump over the shot, my angle wasn't great? Still, it didn't look like a 'worldy' strike.
I seriously would rather have watched the Great British Bake Off than that utter shite out there this evening, it's left me pretty annoyed.
Covers it nicely .. .. What a steaming pile of poo that was!

I'm going to give the opposition some credit, sure they were devoid of any footballing ability (not that we had any tonight), but they did press us reasonably well.
What was disappointing was that we didn't even try to pass the ball tonight. Actually we did, from the back line to the front two. And back it came. Time and time again. I've been quite impressed with Archibald-Henville thus far. But tonight he was absolutely dogshit with the ball, lump it forward at every opportunity, a bit like Ifil only the ball generally found a defenders head rather than touch. Strangely I thought he has looked quite assured on the ball in previous games so fuck knows what happened there.
Navarro was crap too. Couldn't pass for shit.
Ritchie was average, and while Bassawhatsit looked really solid, his style of play was not as mobile as Thompson and I think this didn't help.
Didn't agree with PDCs analysis. I thought the back 4 weren't great - kept bypassing midfield and giving the top 2 nothing.
Not sure if, as PDC said, Wes got his wall wrong. Anyone shed any light?
In summary the game was of such low quality Michael Rose looked competent. 7
Grrrrr. So frustrating. But its only 1 loss. As long as it doesn't become habit to play like that.
Hopefully the Bury/Cov/Villa scouts were watching and have pissed themselves all the way home with a recommendation to play the ladies 3rd 11.

PDC did say that Wes cocked up his wall. When a left footer like Rose is standing over the ball, one of the posts has to be covered by the wall so the keeper can cover the other. Wes is responsible for setting up the wall and got it wrong I think. Wasn't a worldie strike by any means.

I couldn't tell if it went through the wall or round the wall.

I could :gay:n't tell if it went through the wall or round the wall.
It went round the wall, because the wall wasn't far enough to the left. As soon as Rose went to hit it, we said it was going into the bottom corner, because of the gap at the side of the wall and it did. The free kick was as a result of Archibald Henville hitting the ball straight to a Colchester player and then a melee in which a handball was given against Bessone. Just about summed tonight up.

Wow...didn't see that coming. Very poor all round.....Ritchie and Williams were poor and should get the same treatment as others in the squad.......De Vita was as good as both and got hauled of. Anyhow fair play to Colchester they dug deep. We play far to deep at home....our wingers may well have been playing right and left back. Onwards now.......it is a tough league and we will come good...nice to see PDC face the crowd in defeat. Roll on Bury.

Pretty well summed up already on here, the frustrating part is we have now lost two home games against teams we should be taking points off. I know it's not god given but our home form will be the difference in achieving our aim this season so I'm really hoping this was just a shit night we can put behind us. Its not as if it happened just a few weeks ago

Oh. Well PDC had a point then.

Pants.
Di Canio has to take a share of the blame for tonight, Bessone at right back unbalances the team as he is pretty much unable to kick the ball with his right foot (slight problem). He was crap but felt sorry for him at times.
Troy's distribution was horrific.
Would like to see a midfield 4 of Roberts, Miller, Ferry, Ritchie with Bostock playing off of Williams.

Thompson has been very good but as he is injured I would of liked to have seen Devera at right back, he was starting to link up well with Ritchie and looked in general pretty solid. Think that's the better option than playing someone out of position who in my oppinion looked uncomfortable tonight. Was Ritchie out for the Orient game? As it seems that when he has an off game or is not playing the whole team looks out of sorts.
