Monthly upgrade help!

I've been with O2 for 3 years, just over 18 months ago I purchased an iPhone 4. A few months ago that contract came to an end so they put me on a simplicity month to month contract up to when the iPhone 5 came out. I've seen a deal I like so I now want to upgrade to a iPhone 5 (24 month contract).

If I order online from Phones4U or Carphone Warehouse (still on O2) will my contract be automatically updated from the simplicity one to the 24 month one?

I went from Simplicity onto a 12 month contract, but did it in the O2 shop.

I just rang Phone4u in the end and did it all over the phone. I think if you do it online you open another account with the same network.
