Am i right in thinking this works for credit cards as well as loans?
Dunno,I think it was just loans that my brother did, I'm no expert.

You don't need to use a company to reclaim PPI... as yeo pointed out, I did mine through moneysavingexpert and even though the company declined it I then appealed it through the ombudsman... didn't cost me a penny...

Anything where they have charged you for payment protection insurance... mortgage, loan credit card... It's worth a try but just don't use a PPI claim company to do it for you and don't let the loan company fob you off - take it all the way to the ombudsman and let them decide... My mortgage supplier refused my claim and made false statements about sending me two forms to review and sign... one with PPI and one without... complete bullshit... they got hammered by the ombudsman even though I had made a claim on the insurance!

Fuck the companies that say they'll do it for you. Do it yourself. Follow the guide on Martin Lewis's page. I did and the bank went through each account I had had with them and came back to me with an offer of just under £8k. This included interest.
I havent done it for credit cards, however Im tempted to do it when I get time.
Best and only savings scheme Ive ever had.

I received a letter from Northern Rock saying they may have mis-sold me PPI. So I applied and they did! Got £400 back. I wouldn't bother with the 3rd party parasites.

You are one among 500,000 that received this text - they bank on the fact that around half will have had PPI and probably less than 1% will fall for it but this still equates to 5,000 potential 'leads' that could generate over £100k in commission for them
I was only replying to Yeo's revelation that people claimed PPI back without having paid any... I would always do something like this myself (like the unfair charges stuff a few years back) , it's all pretty simple

The only overdraft I've had with natwest was my interest-free student jobby.
I'm assuming I can't claim anything?

In all honesty I don't recall ticking the Capital One box for PPI. At the time I remember thinking "cheeky bastards" when they charged PPI. Might be wrong, might be thinking of my current Tesco credit card. Must check it out...

Mine was all on loans rather than overdrafts.

i have claimed for my overdraft protection and loans. apparently it covers credit cards, mortgages too.
mine came to just under £7k and i contacted them all myself rather than using a company to do it for me. A lot of companies have a dedicated PPI dept now who you contact directly and they do the rest.
all you need is the account number and to say you never knew it was added and didn't require it if it was

Just call the banks that you have had dealings with, they'll do the hard work.
