Grow up.
It's not simple at all and, although we can never prove it, my hunch is that you're wrong about this. When Austin left us, we were in 20th place on 29 points (from 26 games). Rovers and Yeovil were immediately below us, both on 27 points and both with a game in hand. We were hardly sitting pretty. The squad was beset by factions and the Manager did not seem to want to fix this. He had also run out of ideas.
We were heading down, and Charlie Austin knew it. I know that football inspires a lot of passion, but find all this 'hero one minute, villain the next', black & white, for us or against us rubbish is all a bit childish. Charlie Austin came to Swindon as a gamble, did very well for us, and then - when he saw the mess that STFC was mired in - took the hint and moved on to better things. He owes us nothing.
This. It's a shame he left the way he did but that's football. He probably quadrupled his wages and has proved he was better than the level he was playing at, which we all knew anyway. We made bloody good money on him and when he's banging them in in the prem we can say he learnt that at Swindon

Anyone who sleeps with another mans wife must be a bit of a scumbag but to do it to a work colleague, that is pretty low. He is clearly a bit of an arse and we had no choice but to get rid.

i am glad we have the intelligentsia of thisis to inform us all that Austin is solely responsible for our relegation that season, despite his departure halfway through the season, a manager who lost the plot, players who collectively had less bottle than a recovering alcoholic and Paul Hart

Given all the bullshit which got spouted about his personal life, I don't blame him for leaving.
From what I remember he always seemed quite complimentary about us when he was on twitter too.

Austin Shmostin
With our recent results against higher league opposition, they're there for the taking.
Agree with this. Couldn't care less about Austin, won't boo him but won't applaud him either. Gonna be too busy cheering us on!

It's been proved on here Austin will get a mixed reception tonight. Just don't want the Town End singing " Charlie, Charlie what's the score" and him banging in a couple of late ones including the winner.

I would be happy with us going 3 goals up and then singing "Charlie Charlie whats the score" and then he gets a late consolation.

I'd be more than happy with that. Remember the Mooney one at Wycombe although that was only an equaliser

Charlie Austin, the best finisher this club has had for years. He'll continue to do well at Burnley and end up in the Premier League and good luck to him.
Not interested in his private life, but wish him well professionally. Just wish he had a scottish grand parent.

I always assumed Austin was a bit of an idiot and this does little to change that opinion.
I must admit that I read the story and thought it was a bit annoying, them I remembered that he doesn't play for us anymore and thus I really don't care what he has to say!

Charlie Austin is twat. Had he left and not handed in a transfer request he would be up there with Cox and Parkin but forcing a move from a club that gives you a chance in the football league after only 14 months? He doesn't deserve a good reception and it's his own fault.

I think some people take this far to seriously! People can boo him if they want. He wont give a fuck and I cant be arsed!
Austin did play for us, did well, and doesnt any more. However we still have a significant interest in his future as we will benefit financially when he moves on.
Yes he could have been a legend like Cox or Parkin. Well Cox left Swindon and his career spent the next 3 years stagnating on the WBA bench and thus we made fuck all when he moved as he hadnt played any football.
Parkin a tad different because of injury but we got the best of him.
Austin moved on and has proven his quality at a higher level than we could offer and thus in the next 12/18 months will find himself playing premier league football and as a result we will be £1m or £2m better off!

Agree. The best finisher at the club since Shearer. His game also improved by fucingm iles from the player who made his debut to the player who left - albeit he didn't give a fuck the last few games but was only in catch up mode to the majorirty of the other lazy useless cunts.
