In September, anyone watch it late last night or indeed when it came out?
I had not seen it....i found it an incredible account of the murdered Jewish atheletes in 1972.....the incompetance and the general feeling of the games before human life shines through......it seems the Germans even arranged a second hijack so they could return the three palestine men that were caught.
It was almost like the authorities were liking the attention the hijack brought them...also the way the other athelites just seemed to get on with things in the village while other atheletes were being murdered Sad
Must admit i knew very little about the tragic events of Munich.....the link below is worth a watch if you have a spare hour at some time if you like this kind of thing...though it is very graphic at times.

yup, always better watching a film than a documentary... like Cool Runnings. They were on World Record pace when they crashed, you know? Oh wait, no, thats a fucking film. they were actually really fucking slow.

still crashed though.

Leefer, cheers for posting that up, if I get a spare 90mins I'll give that a watch!

A little known fact is that there is an alternative ending to Cool Runnings. None of them make it and the egg breaks

Yeah I watched this last night and was amazed and shocked in equal measures.

Shocked, as you said, at the way in which the IOC didn't immediately suspend the games so you had footage of masked gunmen on balconies near to where other athletes were relaxing by the lake-thing.

The amazing thing was how incompetent the Germans were. Not realising everything was being televised so the terrorists could see the planned counter-attack; the general lack of coordination between State and regional police/army; the lack of communication between the snipers and ground force at the airfield.

The worst bit was the release of the 3 terrorists. A Lufthansa plane with just 12, all male, passengers gets hijacked and they agree to release the prisoners without any communication with Israel.

Not sure how much of what Jamal Al-Gashey said could be trusted but his comments about his relief are damning.

I wasn't even born when this took place but well worth a watch.

I think you'll find that MOSSAD had the final say not to long ago.
