Hat-trick hero Collins stuns Stoke

JAMES Collins is quickly developing a reputation as a League Cup hotshot, and the striker was delighted to see his goals fire Swindon Town into round three last night.

The tribunal was postponed from last week at Swindons request, no date set for the future hearing yet.

EDIT.

September 17th for the new date of the hearing.

Meanwhile, Turner confirmed at a fans’ forum last night that Shrewsbury will learn what fee they will receive from League One rivals Swindon for striker James Collins next month.

A tribunal had been set for last Monday but was delayed at the request of Swindon’s legal team. It will be heard on September 17.

Some seem to think we may not be able to afford the fee.

I hadn't appreciated just how little time he spent at Shrewsbury.  In terms of value added, it will be a bit of a stretch to suggest that their part in his development is worth more than £100k or so.  And possibly a little less than that.

I think about £100k is fair with add ons etc.

Put yourself in their shoes though.  Imagine a key player from last season like Ferry (for example) moving to Shrewsbury, making no secret of the fact that his reason for moving there was he saw them as a better long term prospect.  And then, as if to prove the point, he gets a hat-trick against Premier League opposition...and all before the end of August.  It's going to smart a little, isn't it?  I wouldn't expect anything other than snidey comments from their fans right now.  All part of the landscape.

Pretty much everywhere. Isn't jealousy such a powerful emotion. Success brings jealousy.

This is why we cannot become complacent. So many people would love to see us fail. Remember Creepy were about 15 points clear at the top of the table last year (or am I making that bit up)

Just carry on doing a job. Do not swagger, not yet anyway.

But interestingly (well I thought it was) when the When Saturday Comes season preview came out last week I expected all our opponents from Div 2 last season to note us as the team they disliked, but apart from the usual suspects we were generally respected. However Creepy got a pounding as did Rotherham for the coming season - wonder why  Cheesy

I think actually most opponent supporters are jealous of us, but its the only the idiots who get so excited about it.

Those comments about us not being able to pay are a good laugh. Especially after all of League Two moaned about our "moneybags" owners last year.

Good to see him get the goals last night. He's been a bit unlucky so far, especially with the one against Franchise. Another 1, 2, or even 3 on Saturday will do nicely!
