Di Canio anticipates crucial moment as Franchise visit

PAOLO Di Canio feels his side’s home clash with Franchise tomorrow could provide one of the more crucial moments of the Robins’ League One campaign.

If only other news outlets would follow the Monkey's lead in giving tomorrow's opponents their proper name: Franchise FC.

None of this 'M.K Dons' rubbish.  Dons?!  Dons?!  Why would a team from Milton Keynes call themselves the 'Dons' anyway?  (It would actually make rather more sense if we, as Swindon Town, called ourselves the Dons, wouldn't it?)

So Morshead, anyone else at the Adver, BBC Wiltshire, the Washbag...over to you.  The first genuine Franchise mention wins a prize.

I think it's more to do with an automated name change set up on this forum than the News Monkey's own feelings Smiley

I like the idea of tempting a journo with a prize to use "Franchise" though.

I haven't decided what the prize will be yet.  But it will be worth having.

The mention has to be a genuine 'Franchise' mention, by the way.  Mustn't bat an eyelid.  No 'M.K Dons, also known as Franchise FC' rubbish.  It's got to be 'And today Swindon take on the filthy Franchise for the first time in 2 years...' or something like that.

And if BBC Wiltshire can keep it up for the whole programme tomorrow, I'll take a week's holiday from my job and come to work for them for free (if my wife lets me).

I don't think they bite when you say Franchise anymore. Even their forum logo says Franchise and Proud.

Franchise scum might get a bite.

Ah...taking the insult/term and claiming it as your own.  Clever.

It's still not great though, is it?  Being 'proud' of Franchise is a bit like being proud of your personal hygiene problem or being proud of piles.  I think the Frannies are bluffing; a futile attempt to hide their deep, deep shame.
