Bloody hell trig, well done. If it's not private, why did Oxford reject you? Did you have a town shirt on?  Wink

Yeah.. Oxford tend to do a pre-admissions test before interview, and I did awfully in them. Did well in my practice papers etc, but on the day I really freaked out and did crap. Still just about got enough to get an interview, but they place heavy emphasis on the test mark.

Well done on getting in pericarp. I left LSE a couple of years ago. Maths with Econ is a bit of a beast from what I gather, but your A Level results are impressive so I'm sure you'll be alright! Have you got halls sorted yet? Depending on budget I'd say Bankside is the place to be.

Oh and don't fall into the spring internship trap. Enjoy your first year rather than worrying about all that. Then you can always do a summer internship after 2nd year if you're serious about banking or whatever.

I'm glad you say that actually. I thought Maths with Econ was a bit of a less competitive course than some others like Economics, Law etc..

I also put Bankside as my first choice, and got it, so really pleased with that. Although it's not as expensive as High Holborn, it's still around 175-195 pounds weekly, depending on whether you're ensuite or not. London's going to be expensive!  Cheesy But got my student loan to sort that out.

Thanks for the tip about getting spring internship. No doubt competition will be tough. Couldn't I also do a summer internship (not spring) after first year?

I paid 135pw and was in High Holborn in 07/08. Incredible how much the prices have gone up. You could of course do some sort of internship/work experience after first year, but most of the big names tend to take 2nd years on for their summer internship programmes.

Re: spring internships in first year, it's not so much about competition, more the fact that the amount of work you do to get it, plus the amount it eats into revision time, kind of makes it a waste of time in my eyes. I'm sure some would disagree.

You know your A Levels went well when your course leader tells you thats she's "Taking a punt" on you and I apparently have the lowest UCAS points ever accepted. Smiley

No matter how you look at this statement, that's an achievement.

Lucky that you have a skill in making people believe that your matchday threads have a baring on the final score.

You sir are living a dream.

I knew they'd hit 200... 220 is a joke. Unfortunately the overseas students are willing to pay it, so British students are being pushed out to the less fancied sites. As I say though, Bankside is a good place to be. Just don't expect the Malaysians and Singaporians to talk to you! The American general course students tend to be a good laugh though.

Congratulations Trig.  You'll need to come along and introduce yourself to the London Reds when you get here.  (I think you know a few of them already anyway?)

He does but probably wishes he didn't!!

Congrats pericarp and good luck at uni Smiley
