Still unbeaten during the pre-season lads...seem to remember us winning every game a few years back and we got relegated, can't remember the year though!

Not brilliant but I'm not gonna start panicking just yet. Few individuals done well, liked Tory, liked Williams and collins. That's about it for me

Was very impressed with Williams. Rooney tried to inject a bit of pace. Archie tried to play the ball out from the back, didn't really work for me and didn't look better than JdV or Flint - just on what I sawn tonight v what I saw last season so not a fair comparison..
Noone else really stood out. But its a pre-season friendly which are sometimes tough, not the end of the world.
We could/should have had one or two more.

I enjoyed the evening. Thought the crowd was a little bit down on last season but still healthy. Troy looks a decnt player and Story has bulked out and got even faster. Benson looked a bit rusty.

That was fun..... Not the best game and not much to take from it. Need to step it up for the season. If FGR was us at 60%, I'd say that was us at 10%.

Pretty poor that. Good performances from Williams, Archie and McEveley but that was about it. We looked good at set pieces but were let down by the final ball in attack.
Sums it up really.

I know it's only pre season but only scoring 1 past Submarine is quite poor. I'm assuming the players weren't really too bothered about the whole thing?

I don't think that was the case CF, I think it was just a collective off day. Especially going forward.
And credit to Supermarine, they were well organised and made it difficult.
I found a negative with us getting out signings sorted early. No trialists to cast our eye over and disagree upon!

Few things.
Result did not matter, its what the management gleaned from the workout that is more important. Marine played well in as much as they contained us to a degree and we as alluded to did not quiet click in front of goal and as expected they did not threaten much. Crowd was down on last year. Salisbury Friday will be much the same i expect in terms of the team having a useful training exercise. Palace will be the acid test, hopefully like last year when we played Reading it told me we were well on our way to going up in terms of preparation before a ball was kicked in anger. Already in a way the pressure is on as I feel the Brighton game is not necessarily a must win game but an important one for two reasons, confidence and a money making exercise which will be important going forward if we need to strengthen the squad.

Palace will be the acid test,.
Assuming Palace take it seriously. I remember the Todd pre-season where we put in good displays against the Saints and West Ham, and we nearly got relegated. Then there was the game against Forest where Dossevi scored two... Sometimes the lesser teams are more up for it.

Palace have a very busy build up to the game with us. They beat Dulwich on Tuesday 3-0 and then they have Margate, Aldershot, Cray and Welling playing Friday, Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday then the Wednesday against us.
They will almost definately only play their strongest side for one half I would have thought but it will give us a better gauge of how we are coming along as a team and fitness wise.
