Foreign press seems to be pretty favourable as well.  NY Times loved it.  Die Welt called it a 'Meisterwerk'!

A real demonstration that, whatever else we fuck up, we still know how to put on an event.  Fantastic, funny and, at various points, deeply moving - few have mentioned the Olympic Flag ceremony, with Muhammad Ali...a sly tear shed here....
Same here. Fell so sorry for the great man. Think his wife was trying to get him to wave, but he couldn't do it.

Also spawned a big discussion in our house as my kids were asking who he was and what Parkinson's was.

Also reading that, as well as showing it delayed by an hour, NBC cut the 7/7 tribute in favour of a michael phelps interview. Classy

Just watched the highlights and read the review on the BBC News pages and was close to tears - Dead proud. Dead chuffed. Dead surprised!

Loved the ceremony. Fell asleep as Sir Steve was bringing the torch out though!

I actually thought it was pretty good. I wasn't even planning on watching it but my gf put it on and I started to get into it. It showed everything that is great about this country. Kudos to Boyle for putting it together.

It didn't move me, or make me feel particularly proud but it was good entertainment, I enjoyed it.

It was amazing, very well put together. Enjoyed every second of it, even the procession of countries. It never felt like it was on three hours.

Been watching the Women's beach volleyball, those Russian birds are worth waking up for.  Wink

I was expecting it to be a be shit - but seriously impressed. Watched it again with the kids and its even better 2nd time round.

Fair play to Queen Liz. Abide with me was a tear jerker. Mr Bean was there for the kids only.

Proud.
