A win is a win and these boys will look at it that way. Sure fitness is the priority at present but starting as you mean to go on is never a bad thing. If they get to the Brighton game unbeaten the team will consider the preseason a worthwhile exercise and a springboard to better things..

These friendlies will obviously be important to the players and especially Paolo, no surprises we beat FGR but I'm sure the Gaffer would of demanded nothing less against a lower tier side just like Palace will be wanting to put on a proformance for their management team who will be expecting them to beat us. Long may these wins continue.

Is he injured again, or the new Connell?

Said on the radio he was taken off in one of the friendlies after 10 minutes as Paolo didn't like his attitude.

Oh. The new Kerouche then.

I wish PDC was slightly more mellow sometimes. Not taking any shit, but not cutting people out after 10 minutes.

Still, I don't know what goes on behind the scenes and in training.

I suspect the latter.  He is one player that I thought would be moved on in the summer but is still here.

Well I enjoyed that.

All played well although I commented that i thought Roberts looked off the pace, just before he scored.

Shame really, I like Cibo. Thought him and Kennedy were cracking in the (admittedly probably not as many as most people here) games I got to see last season. Good attitude towards the fans too, and slightly surprised to see Kennedy go for free tbh. However, in Paolo we trust.

Good to hear you like The Washbag, although I'm not doing doing the commentary for tonight's game...  Chris Panks hosts our podcast and he's doing a great job on co-comms duty tonight

I should probably have been more specific, and for that I apologise. I thought Chris Panks improved as the half went on actually (got to be honest, I went to the pub after the first half, too nice a night not to). They said they're booked for another one, which I'm presuming will be the Crystal Palace game? Just felt a bit like they were prattling on about various things too much instead of describing the game, in the same way Radio Wiltshire are apt to sometimes. Stretches went by where I had no clue what was going on. And pre-match and half time mikes being left on is a little amateur (if funny).  Kudos for the quality though, particularly if it was his own equipment. Better than anything I've listened to all year!

I don't understand the criticism of radio commentators 'not describing the game'. Most of the time when they do that there's nothing happening in the game. I'd rather hear some vaguely related anecdote or observation, rather than how the left back, center mid and center back are passing it amongst themselves.

Solid performance last night, thought we looked a bit more creative once Ferry came on, Troy looks like a decent player as he did as the game went on against WSM. Thought Roberts was a bit off the pace in the 1st half, not sure if anyone else noticed but he seemed more interested in repairing a divot in the grass that he caused rather than chase a ball that he really could have won? Saying that i thought he looked much better 2nd half. Williams looks decent, possibly what we were missing last season.

Forest Greens number 15 was a great defender, dealt admirably with what we threw at him, I would imagine they will do well to keep hold of him.

Have to say arriving in Nailsworth (after coming down some mountain), i wondered where they would actually fit a football club. The ground was nice enough, very much a family type atmosphere, but the food and beverages on offer was absolute shit. We had a choice of water and chips, eventually they ran out of bottled water and were filling up cups of it from the tap, after a bit of encouragement they produced a kettle and the world was a better place, despite the lack of Bovril  No

Apparently 713 Town fans made the trip last night, it looked nearer 1000-1200 through my rose tinted specs, FGR fans numbered around 500 ish. Not sure if i was alone on this but there was no 3G coverage whatsoever, which kind of seemed consistent with the area in general.

All in all a good evening out, good performance and on the FGR Forum one chap said it was the 'best away performance he had ever seen at their ground', although considering the away teams at FGR normally consist of such footballing powerhouses such as Histon and Tamworth, i wont read too much in to that.

Very encouraging, cant wait for the long trek to Hartlepool, 8/10

There was a PDC interview aired on BBC RS this morning. In it he said some of the players are expectedly pretty tired both mentally and physically because of the hard pre-season (double session day before FGR, single the morning of the game, double today).

I wonder if Roberts is plain cream crackered.

Things will settle once the regular season gets under way.
