Due to the response from earlier research, I've just started phase 2 of a university research project looking at whether Britain is regressing to a less civil state with less social constraint and more casual aggression. The questionnaire is live at http://www.topfan.co.uk and as you’ll see, the questions are very current. One of them focuses on the current arguments surrounding the welfare system, for example. It should only take you a couple of minutes and thanks in advance.

Done. I do think the questions are leading but that's possibly by design.

I don't think you will have a problem getting the answers you need.

Unemployment is rising in the Chigley end of town and its spreading like pneumonia, doesn't look like going down.

Just a bit. The influential tabloid style opinions before the stupid answers with loaded questions were so clearly focused on an agenda I decided to just close the window. Sure, numbers of Daily Mail readers will be pleased with the options, but (like A Gent Orange says) there's clearly only one set of data coming out of that - which could well be the point.

Stupid fucking questionnaire.

Stupid fucking questionnaire.

Even if I was back home, there'd be only one way I could have a *cough* opinion on those questions. (And there's no 'I don't know option). I don't think it would take a rocket scientist to work out where said *cough* opinion would need to come from.

I'm surprised that any university would want to be associated with a survey like that.  I answered 'disagree' to every question in the hope of providing a little balance.

Stage 1 is below for those interested, results from an equally appalling questionnaire:

SUMMARY OF RESULTS FROM TOPFAN PHASE 1

• 93% Of fans think there is no place for homophobia in football
• 7% Think that football is no place for gays
• 60% Want gay players to “be brave” and come out, but …
• 40% Don’t want gay players to come out, mainly because it’s a private matter and straight players don’t have to declare their sexual preferences
• 90%+ Think the only thing that matters in football is how the player plays ... not his sexual preferences
• 80%+ Think Max Clifford, who said football is stuck in the “dark ages” is part of the problem not the solution
• 60%+ Disagree with Gordon Taylor’s “cowardly” decision not to support an anti-homophobia campaign.
• Fans believe gay players choose not to come out to protect their commercial value, not because they fear the reaction of fans or teammates.
• Many fans see parallels between black players in the 1970s/80s and gay players today.

So far, nearly 2,000 fans, players, managers, coaches and referees have participated in the research, which continues at www.topfan.co.uk

it is a bit worrying that two senior academics at a university would produce such a set of blatantly obvious leading questions.

good luck getting the data you wanted Jamie.

If you've got an 'ology' you're practically a scientist.
