Won't happen, they just sold that Rodriguez fella to Southampton, why would they sell their two best strikers in the same summer?
Unless Huddersfield are selling Rhodes, that's the only way I see it happening.

This is when it turns out fitton only put a 50k fee in the deal I have no fear that Mr F will have out in a nice sell on fee in the deal......I did see that there are rumours on the Burnley forum that Austin may have a minimum release fee in his contract of £2 million. I personally can't see that but if he has then if we have a 25% profit sell on fee (as is pretty standard by the sound of it in contracts) if the original fee was about £1.5 million as rumoured then we would only get about £125k in sell on fees. I think its just paper talk and that his true value would be nearer £5 million+ based on goals in the Championship, which with Burnley is actually 17 goals in 50 games. Whereas Jay Rodriguez scored 41 goals in 128 games and sold him to Saints for £7 million with a games per goal rate of 3.1 games per goal......Charlie has a games per goal rate of 2.9 and an overall football league rate of one goal every 2.1 games which is far superior to Rodriguez.

Im guessing his price was mainly based on his superb record last season as opposed to the average seasons that went before.

on that basis we would never have transfer fees. On todays market he is worth more0 than 2m.

of course there would still be transfer fees.but the free transfers available should keep fees for players like Austin down.

Except they're not free are they - the player will expect a large signing on fee and increased wages if they're out of contract. The going rate for a striker in his early 20's that scores a goal every 2-3 games in The Championship is £6m-£8m. Think the main problem with Austin is injuries. If he plays a full season and hits 20 plus goals he'll be worth £6m.

Makes you wonder how worthwhile some of this summers 'investments' could be financially. Say Collins has a cracking season, we go up, and then does well in the league above. It also makes me absolutely certain that we must not sign a Kewell over a Bostock, who is probably a better player, and has potential resale value if he does well for us.

We got the best part of 2m for him a few years back. Since then he's played and scored in the championship. There is no way his value has stayed the same.
