I've left my phone in my bosses car and desperately need a phone over the weekend - This is probably a stupid question, but if I go and buy a cheap PAYG sim card, can I use it straight away (I have an old, unlocked handset) if I 'top up' or do you have to register etc etc?

As said above SIM needs activating which can be done in shop, or over the phone.
SIM should work unless your old phone runs on steam.
