“O’Kane is a good player but we never asked him. There is not interest. He is a good player but not even at the moment or in the future because already in this position we have players - one very nearly to sign and one nearly to join.” Bostock to join and Ferry to sign? I'm unsure of the distinction, although they could be loan and perm. I can't see why we'd need 2 more creative midfielders though, unless he just means 2 more central midfielders. I hope the trio is McEveley, Bostock and Williams. Exciting.

I am pretty sure it will be McEveley and Williams to sign permanently with us and I was in Swindon on Wednesday and saw a black BMW coming out of the CG with what looked very much like Bostock driving it.
Could well be a season long loan for him, I hope.

Ah cool I didn't know that, he was a spitting image of him though and driving a 59 plate black BMW 5 series out of the CG.

Am I the only one that thinks new players coming to sign and have discussions and what not, don't actually do it at the CG?
I know it's the logical place, but a contract can be signed anywhere, so why do it where anyone could get wind of what's going on?

Depends on the scenario and probably how desperate the club are to signing a player.
Plenty of dotted line stuff would be done in the CG offices. Actual 'talks' take place wherever needed.
Paolo Di Canio's interview was at Heathrow wasn't it?

Players always pop in and out regardless of whether they sign or not. We used to have all sorts walk in during the summer when I worked there. Some would come in and you'd think they'd be signing, but it would turn out they just knew the manager and were popping in to say 'hi'. In fact, if you were to go and sit in the car park during a summer you'd be amazed at the people who pop in. The rumours you'd start! The actual deal probably isn't done at the CG, but players will meet the manager and see the stadium, possibly the training ground, before joining.

Probably explains why Steve Lomas spends so much time in the CG carpark then!

You know you want to give us a list of players (good and bad) from that era who were shown around and didn't sign. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqkaa0cc7Z1r25534o1_500.gif
