Cardiff fans will argue that it's not about kit design but more about identity.
Would you be happy if Wray announced that our new home kit would not be red?

I'll be in two minds, a re-brand could generate more success on the pitch, but I wouldn't like to give up the tradition of our club for success. it'd be like selling your soul.

There's no way a re-brand like this would be embraced by Town fans (especially given previous moments of Town fan hysteria ) Also, the bluebird looks like an afterthought. http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/javaImages/ca/9c/0,,10335~10919114,00.jpg

I think its an example of everything thats wrong with modern football, The heritage and identity of a football club down the drain to make a few extra pounds in Asia.
But if it brings them success and Premiership football I'm sure many Cardiff fans wont care too much in the long run.

Does it fuck. Read that back and try to explain to yourself how a "rebrand" generates more success on the pitch. It doesn't. It's just empty marketing bullshit that we get used to reading so often people start to accept it as true. In this instance, the rebrand is all about the image the Malaysian owners want to use to "sell" Cardiff in the Far East and fuck the club's history and tradition. As Samdy said, the bluebird's so much of a token afterthought as to be tantamount to a slap in the face

For me, changing the colours is more of an issue than the badge!
We've had many badges over our time and i couldn't really care less which we have, but we should always play in Red.
I have to say given how many teams nicknames is the Robins i would have absolutely no problems if we replaced that with something more individual and had a badge to match. Rebrandings can be successful if you involve the fans, look at Sunderland becoming the Blackcats.

The colour red is considered lucky to the Chinese, there's one hell of a lot of Chinese in Malaysia. Dragons are also closely associated with China
Fuck the fans, let's be more Chinesey

I did say COULD bring success, I wouldn't be happy if we sold our history/tradition, we'd be no better the franchise

The Robins nickname is a funny one. When was the last time you heard 'Come on the Robins' from the stands? You never do. It's something you only read really in newspapers. Don't think it means much to the fans at all...probably, as you say, because there are two teams within an hour's drive who also use the name and plenty of others further afield.

Shitting on it would have been more apt given the positioning. Corporate sellouts, I bet the Cardiff fans are rightly seething.
