When a contract is cancelled by mutual consent, is there usually a payoff involved?

I believe so, but usually less than that player would ordinarily have been entitled to if they'd seen out the contract.

Think it depends if its mutually cancelled or unilaterally.  Mutually would suggest the player probably takes a % of what he would be entitled to whilst if it was the club's own decision I'd imagine he'd get it all.

Obviously if it's his decision, he'd probably get fuck all.
