I don't dislike Rooney at all.  He always seems to try and I've not noticed a bad attitude in any way.
However, I remain to be impressed by the end product and to be convinced that he is currently good enough for a team challenging at the sharp end in League 1.
Listening to PdC's interviews though it seems that he believes Ronney has so much more that he can offer.
I'm hopeful that with some good coaching and a full pre-season with Paolo and the team he can kick on and fulfil his obvious potential.

This. He's very raw, and their is obvious potential there, but if he doesn't improve I don't think he'll make much of an impact in league one. He's very one-dimensional, head down and run. I can see why Gills labelled him an impact player.

I don't think he's benefited much from paying on the left either. Unlike Ritchie, Holmes and De Vita, who can all use both feet (to varying degree's), Rooneys left foot is very much only for standing on.

Rooney 2nd on our assists chart with 7, Richie out in front with 17.
Holmes with 2 and played 9 games less than Rooney

I like Rooney, I like Holmes.

On Gabilonda i think he was a bit harsh done by in that i think hes an out and out right winger.  Playing on the left doesnt suite him i dont think.  He wants to go outside his full back and cross rather than cut inside and shoot.

I think PDC would love to get rid of Lanzano, Chibboci, Gabilondo, J.Smith, Easy jet, Karouche, Connell and Magera.

I really dont think PDC rates alan connell.  All season he has been going nuts when connell doesnt hold the ball up.  And he has been piss poor at times in doing that.  And in his decision making.  Reason connell gets subbed in almost every game he starts is he isnt that good.  The clamour among town fans for him to play baffles me.  Hes not much better than murry.  PDC knows what he wants to see from his strikers and connell isnt up to that.

IF plan A is still in place about trying to go up again then the quality has to go up ALOT.  And especially upfront.  When we got to the play off final 2 years ago we had 27 goal paynter and 20 goal charlie.  Do we have anything near thier quality now ?  Not even benson is as good as they were then.

You have players for the level your at.  If you go up and want to do so again.  You have to get rid of the players who wont be up to it and get in thoes who are.  Years back Macari had David Cole along side Calderwood.  He played all year and won a championship medal.  He played 3 games in what is now Div1 and was sold to Torquay.  His replacement Tim Parkin won player of the year at end of season where we of course went up again.

That's a good post with reasoning, have to agre with a lot of it.  Depends on what the budget is, I believe Cibbocci and Connell will still be here, probably J. Smith as well.  Cibbocci was quite badly injured at the end of the season - believe he was taken from the gym in an ambulance, Smith is still very raw, don't forget he was at Forest Green about three years ago, Connell will be a bench-warmer at best, but is worth hanging on to for that reason.  Unless, of course, there is a big transfer budget which may then see them leave if better replacements are available.  Cox is another I think may go in a re-shuffle.

It's been obvious for months that PDC has had some sort of problem with Connell, but I totally disagree with some of your comments.  You seem to have conveniently forgotton that he's our joint top scorer, who scored crucial goals and won us a number of games?  The same can't be said for Murray and the stats back this up. At times he was subbed after making an error, yet I've sat through games where Murray or someone else (Risser as an example) has made continually poor decisions and been left on.  That is what I and other supporters got pissed off with.

It's because Polo doesn't know what he is doing and many of the fans know better.

People keep pointing out that Connell is our joint top scorer but he's basically the only striker who's been at the club all season. His goals per game must be fairly similar to Murray and much worse than Benson.

I think he's a decent option off the bench but little more.

Think that will be his role next season at best. Wouldn't be surprised if he went elsewhere to be honest

Worked hard, never moaned even when he was in and out of the team, and scored some vital goals for us. Whether he stays or goes he was an important part of us getting promotion this season.
