Very difficult to choose, there are so many good british comedies. But after some careful thought my three are: 1. Fawlty towers (By far the best comedy series I have seen) 2. The Office 3. Alan Partridge

The ones I like best are: 1. peep show 2. that peter kay thing 3. the day today
those would also be the top three in the world.
Peep show really is that good but there are loads of contenders
Phoenix Nights, Father Ted, alan partridge, knowing me knowing you, brass eye, the office, jam, fawlty towers and monty python are all up there.
The Armstrong and Miller show is a cult classic. This morning with richard not judy was good too.
There are a couple of episodes of coupling that are very funny too (there's one about jeff having too many legs that is genius) but it's gone a bit shit now Jeff isn't in it anymore. Basically Jeff was fucking funny, the rest are average. The last couple of episodes of green wing were class as well.
I think I've forgotten loads.

Vicar of Dibley?! That wasn't comedy.
Top 5 for me (not in order) are Only Fools and Horses, The Office, Fawlty Towers, Phoenix Nights, Father Ted.
I'll have to give it some thought to bring it down to three and get it in order.

lads, i know blinkdumbass started the trend, but your choices don't have to be on my "list" and you don't have to say if they're not. i was merely reeling some suggestions off the top of my head.

1.Phoenix Nights 2.Alan Partridge 3.Open All Hours
Father Ted just misses out, but gets a nod because it's an all time classic.
Red Dwarf made me split my organs out of my sides years back but has not aged as well as the others and loses points for the last couple of series which where utter shite and stained the brand.
On The Buses also deserves a mention, although it was recently labelled the worst example of British Comedy ever, I still love it.
