O'Kane is on Town's radar

SWINDON Town have been interested in signing Eunan O’Kane since January but no formal bid has yet been lodged for the midfielder, the Advertiser understands.

If I was Martin Ling, or any of Torquay's players or fans, I would be livid about this story.  They are in the play offs - and running a story like this shows a complete lack of respect.  Very bad timing.  It's going to be a long summer.  Could this not have waited a few weeks?

There are no quotes in either the Sky Sports or Advertiser reports so, at this moment in time, Swindon haven't done anything wrong... Yet.

DRS is right, the story came from sky.

I read one comment on their forum that seemed to think the leak probably came from their own board.

When are we likely to hear paolo has had the confirmation he desires about next years plans. I definitely think that adding additional quality is a must. Jpt confirmed the need to me.

And what did you make of the wins against Udders, Bristol city, Exeter and Wigan?

Yes, we'll strengthen. Of course we will. But citing the JPT as confirmation we need to strengthen is just plain silly.

No harm in citing the JPT.

Wembley was a healthy reminder of what could happen.

I get the feeling this is the player pushing for a move or a better contract through his agent by leaking a story to Sky. Swindon would gain nothing by making this public, as the Sky article mentions Championship clubs interested and a £200k release fee which would just alert bigger clubs than us to him.

The Adver have just reported on the story and we all know if they hadn't we would be saying how crap they are for not picking up on the Sky story.

By that logic though, this squad could also survive the premiership.

We lost to a team from the league higher who out-muscled us and got wise to our main source of chances - decent work down each flank. Why is that not a good enough reason to strengthen? Granted we were below par, played two new players and missed key ones but that in itself is reason to add depth, or am I missing something? JPT was an eye-opener of sorts.

I'm not saying we shouldn't strengthen, of course we should.

I'm saying it's foolish to take into consideration only one result against higher league opposition and ignoring the rest. It's like saying Chesterfield beat us, so they must be better than us. In which case we must also be better then Bristol City, Exter, Huddersfield and Wigan. (but worse than Leicester). It's a flawed and nonsense logic.

We also lost to some League 2 teams this season, does that mean we are not good enough for league 2?
