Does anyone know what the best way to value a computer is?

Is it best to take it to somewhere and get it valued or is there somewhere online where I can enter the details and get a valuation as I haven't got a clue and want to make sure i'm not selling it for the wrong price.

Thanks.

It's only worth what people are prepared to pay for it. With new PC's and Laptops so cheap now, the second hand market isn't the best.

No websites/valuers as such. What spec/OS is it? Will it come with Office?

Sippo is correct, a 2nd hand PC is worth what people will pay for it basically, put up the spec and I am sure there are a few people can give you an honest opinion of its value.

As Sippo states the PC 2nd hand market is at its lowest point, it may even be worth breaking it up and selling it on Ebay for its component parts. 2nd hand Hard drive prices are strong though currently if its of a decent size....500gb+

They're both fairly old but have Windows XP on them.

As i'm not very good with computers, what information do you need and I will put it up.

Processor, memory, HD size, OS (Xp obviously as you have stated!), Graphics card, any sound card/network/wifi card, monitor size and make, any other pay software included such as office.

You'll need the RAM size, Processor and Hard-drive size.

RAM and Processor you can get via the system properties in the control panel.

Turns out they are both from around 2002-05ish, so not expecting much for them.

The first one:
RAM: 1024MB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 22GHz
Hard Drive: 227GB

Will post other one in a bit, thanks all for your help.

I would suggest a value of around £50-£70 but some people may be willing to pay a little nearer £100 if you are lucky and it has a usable graphics card and not onboard graphics, the lower value if its onboard graphics.

Take it out somewhere with a breeze so it doesn't overheat.  Perhaps a museum of old computers that will have a dislplay of ZX Spectrums with the rubber keyboard.  Followed by some compressed air into the keyboard to blow out the cobwebs, finished with a nice meal and a good bottle of red.  It should feel valued after that.

And, yes, I'm sorry.

And cheers JJ, that was more than I was expecting.
