Conroy is making excellent progress week by week.
Needs to take his time before full tackling and impact on his knee can be fully approved.
Hopefully will be ready for the start of the season.

That sounds encouraging. Wellens's update sounded more pessimistic as though he had had a bit of a relapse.

I don't know what the issue was, but an injection and slow return over two weeks didn't sound like a relapse

Hmm, I dunno. He’s 33, has played 573 games and 572 of those have been in league 1 and 2. I just feel if he was good enough he’d have been given a shot, you know??

If you’re being hyper critical he’s never *really* done much in the top half of league one - his highest ever finish is 8th, with Southend in 2008-09

He’s a very good bottom half league 1 / top half league 2 player. But he’s been around, moved around enough and played enough for me to think if he was ever going to play for a team at the top of league 1 / champ he’d have done so by now

Just because he hasn't played there doesn't mean he has never been good enough to play there, look at the sides he has played for, Crewe, Port Vale, Southend, Shrewsbury, Stevenage those teams are not likely to have decent calibre of players around him to build on a promotion challenge.

Maybe he has never had the motivation to seek a move to a better club and loves being the big fish in a  little pond?

I know it was only a preseason friendly, and Coventry probably wasn't up to full sharpness, but you can say Grant more then held his own during the match.

For a player lacking in fitness and in his first game back he bossed midfield, even the Coventry fans said as much.

One thing to add is that at every club Grant has played for in every season he has been either player of the year or in the top 3 final list. He was player of the season at Southend, Shrewsbury, Crewe, Port Vale and 2nd at Stevenage before emulating it at Swindon.

Coventry fans thoughts after Saturdays game

Anthony grant in their midfield is EXACTLY what we’re missing

Is that Anthony Grant in the middle who used to be at Vale? Been the best player on the pitch so far

I've been impressed with him every time hes played against us.

And why does Grant always look useful against us too

Aren't their question marks over his attitude? That might put some people off.

Wellens has mentioned it himself but said something along the lines of it not being a problem once you know him well.

I believe so.

Well he did leave the Shrews under a cloud and that may not have been the only club for that to have happened. Clearly he has ability, just a shame from our viewpoint with seeing how he has played for us that it has never materialised.

He’s moved around enough to think that at least one of the moves could/should have been from a side higher up the pyramid by now

I dunno. Maybe this season will be the one that changes that. Fingers crossed
