The Milton Road End at Southampton was probably the steepest I've walked down, a bizarre stand.

I remember when that was a roofless terrace - looked like a wedge of cheese

That end behind the goal at City is shit. It looks shit and the acoustics seem to be shit as well (although that could just be the fans that ocupy it) Another dream that would never ever get off the ground with the authorities given that it is a safe standing area would be a smaller version of dortmunds kop

I sat in the Atyeo end when Bath played Brizzle there a few years ago (Rugby). I sat in there with a pint, so it wasn't too bad - Not my favourite stand though! I'm sure the pox fans would claim that second photo is taken from the fence at the Kassam

Can we just have a closed stadium. Like White Hart Lane, Emirates, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge.. ?
Or Gillingham.

Can't imagine the authorities liking people standing in an area so steep though even if it does meet the requirements.
I believe the DRS is the steepest a stand can be based on building regs. I maybe wrong though.

I believe the DRS is the steepest a stand can be based on building regs. I maybe wrong though.
I remember hearing this also. In fact, I think someone once told me that the maximum angle permitted for a new stand (back in 1994, that is) was 34°, and that the DRS (or Intel, as it was then) had an angle of 33°. All of which could be complete rubbish, I know. During the time I've known the County Ground (22 years), there have been two significant changes: the extension of the North Stand to pitch level (in about 1992) and the demolition of the Shrivenham Road Stand and its replacement with the Intel Stand/DRS (in 1994). So nothing, basically, has changed - barring the strapping and unstrapping of seats to terraces - in almost 20 years. I think this must be why I still think of the DRS as a fairly 'new' stand, even though there are now people in Swindon with driving licences who were born after it was built!
