Holmes keen on Swindon stay

LEE Holmes would love to make his temporary switch to Swindon a permanent one in the summer, but is focused solely on doing what he can to help the Robins seal promotion back to League One.

All very promising. Just goes to show, if you get a good young player on loan, dont then boo him when he comes back to the County Ground. You never know what can happen.

If you can keep him fit then you've got a good player there. There may be a few other Champ/L1 clubs in for him at the end of the season if he keeps his form up.

Whilst money possibly has some influence over this swap from Oxford-Southampton-Swindon vis a vis we may but no-one knows for sure could be offering to pay a higher percentage of Holmes wages to Southampton, one cannot ignore other factors.

His contract is up in the summer, we are likely to be plying our trade in Div 1 next season, the Di Canio factor, Swindon's stock value ( as the yanks say) is on the up so without wishing to deride Oxford, in his boots where would you think your best prospects are going to be going forward? No championship club has made an effort to sign him till the rest of the season to take a look at him have they? So my guess is should Paolo decide that he's one that we want for next season then I'd venture to suggest he'll be in a town shirt come August. Injuries aside, as you say.

Not much really, it was only ever a 1 month loan. He played well in his 7 games, scored 2 last week and set up the 2 in the derby. We've got J-P Pittman who is left footed and coming back to fitness, and Morgan from Chesterfield, and now Montano (bit of a donkey with you wasn't he? but scored loads for Notts County). So 3 left-footed attackers is plenty. Holmes is probably better than all of them but only marginally. Southampton fans reckon he's seriously injury prone - its the reason he's down in L2 because on his day he is clearly Champ standard and clubs will clock that if he stays fit.

fatbasher there were enquiries from Champ clubs for Holmes, but he wants first team football more or less guaranteed for the rest of the season. Charlton were after him too and wanted to go there, I don't know why that one broke down.

Yeah he did. We've had tens of loaners over the past few years and there are few I remember tbh, but I do remember Homles along with Carrick, Davis and Henderson being the best.

I'd also like to add Ward and Milner to my list after careful consideration  Smiley

Stephan Darby was decent enough.

10 out of 10 for that penalty as well.
