Is it true that when they give the official crowd they automaticaly count all the season ticket holders? If that is the case do we do that .....i mean the way Bradford are playing i would say it is a bit naive to think they all turn up and with the cheap season tickets that could be thousands. Could have worded this post better so i hope you know what i am getting at.

Season tickets are counted for all home league games, whether the holder is actually in attendance or not.

The crowd yesterday was what...10,600 odd....that looked about right to me so on that basis I'm guessing that they're counting people through the turnstiles.

Do you think that's still the case at Swindon? Surely the electronic machines should actually be able to give a precise number of people that have gone through?

Well regardless of yesterdays crowd i am amazed that clubs count all ticket holders at home matches for official crowds,if you count payers on the door why not the ticket holders....you still use the turnstyle the same as people who pay cash.

Yes, it's exactly the same at Swindon, if no season ticket holders turned up it would still add on the 5,000-odd who have STs. This was confirmed in an interview with Watkins earlier this season.

I definitely heard one of the turnstile workers say yesterday that the only reason they are now manned is to count the numbers going through, I've never seen them making any sort of notes though so would question that.

I'm pretty sure all clubs count season ticket holders regardless of whether they attend. Turnstile workers surely there to make sure not everyone getting in on free Under 10 tickets etc.

Yes every club does count season ticket holders on every attendance, I have been there while the turnstiles were cashed up back in the 80's and 90's when I was stewarding.
Always have done always will, the club say that these people have paid for that game so must be counted as an attender even if they did not attend.
The crowd figure is not an attendance figure its a entrance paid figure for the tax man not an actually head count of who is there.

So how do they avoid ST holders from being counted twice?

The counting is actually done electronically, in the ops room at the corner of the TE and DRS I believe. Does give them vision of what is actually hapenning at the turnstiles and whether they need to open more. The Bank was actually made available as an overspill for the 'Nam fans on Saturday and they would have given the instructions to open it had they have actually brought enough fans to use it!
