I would rather we not be so good, because the games are a lot more boring with us being so much better than the opposition.

Something I put on another forum, which is a bit more coherent

I'm looking forward to cheltenham, that should be a good tussle. Top of the table clash. But other than Torquay their's nothing more in the fixture list which causes any reason for concern - Mid table nobodies with nothing to play for or the dregs of the division. That's not to say we won't slip up - we almost certainly will. We've not really been completely 'on song' since the crawley game, and have perhaps been fortunate to win some of the games we have (shrewsbury in particular).

But we have been winning. Theirs an expectation around the county ground that we should win each game. It's good, it's healthy and I know it's a lot more enjoyable than the alternative (See - Last season). But, for me at least, some of the fun is taken out of it when we're so blatantly better than everybody else in the division.

It's not wrong to think that?

Nah that's pretty much how I feel. Said to my mate before the game last night "oh it'll be another 2-0 routine win" and semi jokingly added "it's getting kind of boring" but after last season I will gladly take this alternative.

I don't go as much as you lot but compared this to last season. Complete chalk and cheese scenario.

That said, we are becoming the dominant team of this division, and the routine home wins with a clean sheet are becoming the norm (however, I still expect us to lose to rabble like D&R at home!)

Definitely see what you guys are getting at, but don't 100% agree. Yes there have been a number of games of the 'routine home win to nil' variety recently, but we've also had to come from behind against Shrews, and hang on to slender leads under pressure at the end against Rotherham and Hereford. None of those games would I have called boring. And whilst Southend away and Crawley at home ended up being won by comfortable scorelines, they were still enjoyable games - due mainly to external factors (league table and opposition managers specifically).

I've loved this season. I can't think of a season I've enjoyed more. There's nothing more fun than winning, apart from winning convincingly and/or by huge margins.

I know where you're coming from in that it's not always a challenge, but I don't find that boring. For me I absolutely fucking hate losing on every level and with my every fibre, so give me a simple league anytime.

I truly don't get this at all.

There is nothing boring about a routine 2-0, 3-0 or 4-0 win.

Have a word with yourselves.

I guess I must be too old school in that I actually enjoy us winning, ah well each to their own I guess.

I agree with bazza. Give me a comfortable league promotion over a nail biting last day one any time.

Not that we are there yet.

Glad to read the last five or so posts in this thread as I was beginning to think I had stumbled upon the wrong forum.

I can't understand anyone saying it is boring.
I just wish I could get to a few matches, in order to be "bored".
Puzzling indeed.

Some folk are never happy !

Not true, some folk are happy when they're whinging.

I notice Bart hasn't reared his ugly head on here for a while.

Great result and performance last night, but I kind of understand (although I don't necessarily agree) that some of our recent home games have been very one sided and not too competitive, especially last night, but that's only because we're far too good for a lot of teams in this division.
The goal was to get promoted back to League One, we're doing it in style.
I'd happy take a one-sided 4-0 drubbing over an action packed, end-to-end 3-3 draw, but I guess that goes without saying Smiley

I go into every game thinking we should win it, but I'm always kind of expecting a slip up. Until we net the first goal I feel nervous. Winning's like smoking, before you start your stress levels are low, once you've start you have to do it again and again to get the levels back down.

When it comes to the off the field antics, this is by far one of the most entertaining seasons I have known.

Where's Gazzza, Pauld, and Mex these days? Has Mex got a season ticket at the Amex or the Broadwood Stadium?
