Looking like they could be heading in to administration. Lucky if you're one of the other sides on the fringes of the play off places and struggling for form, I guess. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17192738

A shame to have to use my 5,000th post on this, but I have a bad feeling about this one. We've not seen a club extinction for many years, but the omens do not look good here. Stoke and Port Vale used to spar with each other quite effectively, but it's been horribly one sided recently. I just can't see how Vale can have a viable future with a resurgent Stoke City right on their doorstep.

Brian Howe from the band Bad Company is in talks to buy out Pompey, isn't Robbie Williams a Vale fan? Surely he hasn't spent all his money on drink and drugs.

Port Vale's crowds were crap even in the 90's in the 2nd tier. They must have been getting an average of over 1500 away fans every game and they still only got 6000 ish. They are a real male dominated fanbase, very oldschool. Never made 1 step into the post 1996 era.

Pretty sure Williams has a stake in the club but doesn't vote on anything.

Very sad if a club with the history of Port Vale goes under....real old school as someone said. Such a romantic name, even if the reality is a little different!! I hope it gets sorted for them.

Only club in the League with a name unconnected with its geographic location ('Woolwich' Arsenal excepted).

What about QPR? is there a Queens Park close to Loftus Road?

On a technicality yes as they play in Cleethorpes but did they originate in Grimsby? I don't know.
