I'm seriously confused - I thought he was out on Saturday because he got knocked out?

I presume that was only speculation based on a reported incident that may have hurt his ego more than harmed him from playing.

Well possibly he knew he was injured, went out on the town in a stroppy mood, and got knocked out (sparko, to fall in with another thread's puns) as a result.

Getting punched to the ground could cause injury other to the area of impact to the face. many dislocations-strains etc can happen like that. Then again Flint may have been ok after the incident and got injured in training. Think the latter is unlikely myself.

That's what I thought. Maybe he got hit in or around his eye area and had swelling and couldn't see out of it properly or something.

I was told today from a very reliable source that he did indeed take a good enough slap to leave him spark out on the floor.
