It popped up just as I posted about the AFC game. It's not as if it was a surprise result. Thought it might be a bit tighter though. |

I see they mentioned that 50,000 tickets had been pre sold for a potential AFC championship game in Atlanta.
Two intriguing match ups tonight, Bills/Bengals so soon after the Damar Hamlin situation, by all accounts he’s going to be at the game tonight.
And then the Cowboys/49ers which is a throwback to the 90s when they seemed to play each other in the playoffs every season.

I'm not at all confident of the Bengals beating the Bills tonight (although I'd never write them off) but apart from the regular on field issues of a banged up O line and Mixon playing like crap in the run game, it's obvious that the NFL REALLY want a Bills v Chiefs AFCCG in Atlanta. As mentioned above, 50,000 tickets have already been sold (probably more now)... so I think they'll be playing the refs tonight as well as Josh Allen. Any marginal (or even blatant) holding / P. I / roughing the passer penalties are likely to go against the Bengals. I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories but the NFL have already shown their colours.

Even if they do lose, I would say that it's been a successful season. They've dispelled the 'losing Superbowl finalists hangover' narrative and the "Well it was all a bit of a fluke" narrative and having not won a play off game in 31 years they've now won 4 in two years, whatever happens tonight...they're relevant again. As I said though, I'm not going to write them off... |
