Ah yes the Eagles strategy of drafting only Georgia defensive players. I mean tbf that Georgia team was ridiculous. I think a lot of GM's watched them and just said "yes".

The Packers had the same strategy. Only problem is, the Eagles had already taken all the best ones....

The Eagles have managed their cap as well (if not better) than any other team.
They have a top rated o line & d line.
They have two really good receivers a star RB & their secondary is really good too.
Jalen Hurts is a capable QB and they have managed to pay them all & keep them happy.

It will be interesting to see if they can stay ahead of the cap & keep the nucleus of the team together long term.

It works in part because the drafting has been really good. The saints have followed a similar strategy regarding contract structures and are in the shit now because they’ve not drafted well alongside it.

The real crunch is in two-three years, when a lot of the bigger contracts end but the cap hits remain because of the way they structure them.

The theory is that the TV rights deals are due to renew before then, and they’re banking on it causing the cap to increase significantly - so the future cost won’t hurt as much
