Most goals he scored in a season was something like 6 for Stockport.

He scored 4 in his first 4 games for them. Ended up with a record of played 40, scored 6. Clearly not much of a goalscorer.

I seem to remember when we signed Connell, the Pox fans were saying how lame a signing he was based on his poor goalscoring record. I can only assume then that they are equally underwhelmed about Mr Johnson and his inability to find the back of the net. 13 goals in 85 starts, bit shit really.

Although he has 9 in 15 for the footballing giants that are Nostell Miners Welfare.

Thought he was quite good in Frnkie Goes To Hollywood

I read that on the Jills club forum about a 2 weeks ago and chuckled then to myself.

DRS, arriba has already answered your point, but I'll do it again too if you want a direct response.

Despite what you want to think, "discussions with the player" really could refer to anything. In this case the club letting Constable know that an offer has been accepted and he's got the option to talk to Swindon. He turned the option of talking to your club down, as your chairman even says here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16651262.stm

Paolo I retracted my insult, and said it was reactionary. At that stage the player hadn't even been involved in the transfer yet.

What a club says and what actually happened are two completely different things.

How do you know Beano didn't meet for talks with Paolo but then decide he couldn't go through with it ?

It's up to the clubs how they word a statement.

FFS, who cares any more.

He's staying at a club where half the fans think he isn't good enough and, although it would have pissed them off joining us, would quite have liked the money to get someone better.

We were never that chuffed in the first place, apart from pissing Oxford off - hardly a ringing endorsement of the player from either set of supporters.

Poxford now have a "will he won't he" situation throughout the transfer window, if not to us but to someone else - personally I think the whole saga is great

It's no different to the time a few months back when we accepted an offer for Bournemouth (except he actually went there and agreed a contract), and that didn't affect him, or our club.

Player, club, manager, are all clear on their position. We can't help it if other club's fans can't get their heads round it.

Oh fucking hell. I'm just glad he hasn't signed, Pox still have their idol.

We've got far more important things to worry about. Like Macclesfield.

It didn't affect him or the club because it wasn't Swindon!!
