A plee to the Townend faithful!
Have today found myself out of a job through no fault of my own due to employer gone under.
If anyone knows of any semi skilled jobs going not being advertised feel free to PM me.
Much appreciated!

I would offer you a few hours as a projectionist but you'd have to serve popcorn for a few months first

That's a real bummer, has Yodel gone now? Were they not called a different name a few years ago, if it is the same place I am thinking of I believe one of the manager's sons played footy for Wanborough on a sunday with my son.

Yodel was orignally called Home Delivery Network or HDNL for short, they had a seriously bad name in the courier business. Last year they aquirred DHL Domestic from DHL Europe and the whole company rebranded as Yodel. They totally screwed up at xmas with all the volume of deliveries and major clients have with held paying Yodel which in turn has seen Yodel with holding monies to its third party courier companies. As everyone who works for the third party companies done so on a self employed basis no notice was required.
I worked in the Reading depot and from what i have heard through rumours is that the Swindon depot could close altogether. Bad times ahead i feel for all involved :-(

I thought the Swindon Yodel depot was long gone? All my deliveries were via Gloucester. Or is this the 3rd party depot? Not nice to see Yodel screw everybody over, employer and customers alike. Hateful company

Hateful company Up until March last year there were two depots in Swindon. One in Greenbridge by the rugby ground which was the Home brand and one in Elgin Ind Est branded as DHL. The DHL was was closed and the routes from there were moved to Gloucester and Reading whilst the Home depot re-branded to Yodel. Have now heard that this depot will shut too. Absolute absurd that a town the size of Swindon will not have a depot and should customers have to collect parcels they will have to travel to either Reading or Gloucester. Disgraceful.

Yes totally agree. I try my utmost to avoid Yodel at all costs for this very reason. That and their customer services are either unreachable, useless or plain liars. Unfortunately its difficult with Amazon using them.

Its the drivers i feel sorry for because the majority of them like me were only paid for successful deliveries (we dont get paid when people not in basically). Xmas was a complete balls up with piss poor planning. My round grew from about 80 parcels to over 200, simply not acheiveable. Many parcels failed, complaints sky high yet no help for the drivers who ultimately cop the shit when customers finally get parcels.
Amazon was a shit contract for them to win. Amazon paid peanuts to Yodel and requested the basic delivery service, NSR-SP which means no signature required, safe place. Hence lots of parcels left on door steps, back gardens etc even if tv's xboxs and the like. Utter maddness.

You can get an appy from Empire Greenbridge - they're hiring temporary staff at the moment. Unfortunately they won't let me take a newb straight upstairs.
