We have had many great 3rd round ties, some at home and some away.

It wasn't until Reg said that about the top flight side in the 3rd round at home I haden't realised that until then but yes looking back there hasn't been one in my lifetime.

So surely we are overdue one?

Bring it on.

Last one was probably Arsenal in 1972 - within some our lifetimes

That brought in our highest ever home attendance and a 2-0 defeat.

Not with us having played in the first 2 rounds to qualify. We were a 2nd Div side then so were straight in the hat in the 3rd round.

I think the last time we qualified for round 3 and got a top division team in the 3rd round at home was to Coventry 22nd Jan 1966 which coincidentally was 30 days before I was born!

I could be wrong about that though I am not sure if Coventry were promoted that season or the previous season. Reg?

It's all about the money - an away game at one of the top 6 PL teams could easily be worth £200k. Which I assume would mean we can sign some better players in January as it would be factored in to our wage cap for the remainder of the season.

If we don't get the money spinning away tie then as shit a team as possible at home for an easy route to the 4th round.

For purely selfish reasons I would like Peterborough away (or maybe Stevenage).

Otherwise it would be nice to get a trip to one of the top 6 in the Premier league, or a home draw against a struggling league 1 or championship team.

If we're being selfish, I'll take Tamworth away.

I want Reading.

Either home or away.

Only other guy in my halls who is actually into football and supports a team is a reading fan.

I want to dick them so I can rub it in his face for the next 3 years. Immature cunt I am. Smiley

I don't know why but I can sense a big draw at home. We're due...and with the PdC factor it'll be on TV.

But I'll quite happily take Reading, West Brom or West Ham.
