Lanzano U-Turn

MATTIA Lanzano will remain at Swindon until January at the earliest after the goalkeeper decided not to take up the offer of having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Eh?  I don't get this - happy to sit around and collect his pay packet then I assume?  Guess noone else in Italy wants him.

The Scottish bloke in the ticket office told me Lanzano's heard the German market in Wharf's Green is worth hanging around for and he's shelled out a lot of money on 4 tickets for keith chegwin's panto at the Wyvern. He'll be happy to end his Swindon experience once the festive period is over.

He also can't wait to see the Whalebridge roundabout project completed, as he's well in to his road construction.

Who can blame him?  If you think the finances in this country are in the shit, just take a look at Italy's finances.  And at the end of the day it all about money.  Good luck to him if he can find another club in Italy, but I guess there are a lot of people who may have come to the same decision, however it much it may upset us.

Will he also be leading the campaign to complete the southern section of Thamesdown Drive (as originally planned), thus providing a much needed dual carriageway link from North Swindon to the Great Western Way?  Glad someone's on the case at last.

Thanks.

Well within his rights, we gave him a contract, he's well within his rights to honour it. It was our fuckup signing him in the 1st place.

Exactly.  In his situation most of us would do the same.

I don't think it was a "fuck up" in signing him. He's a 21 year old goalkeeper, plenty of time to work on his career.

It was perhaps naive to think that such a young, non-English speaking footballer could slot into a 4th tier football club with the ease I get the impression that PDC was expecting him to do.

I was looking at our squad list - at the moment we have five goalkeepers: Foderingham, Smith, Lanzano, Jefionowski, Scott.

That's a lot.
