Mind you, from what I gleaned yesterday from one of my colleagues who knows a bit, well a lot about technology and gadgets, they (ipads) are going to make my job so much easier next year that I won't know what to do with my free time. Ah yes I do, work more......

T Personally, i'd get a laptop. Apple products, although might be good for all I know, seem ridiculously overpriced. £600 for a fucking iPad?
difference is in about a couple of years your laptop will be worth about £50 where as your iPad will still fetch at least 60% of it's value... I paid £1,300 for an iMac 3 years years ago and I can still get £850 for it now.... show me a PC that retains that kind of value...

On the subject of what's better I've got an Mac Laptop and an iPad. The Mac is good to store all your pictures, documents etc. but the iPad is brilliant for games, social networking and for travelling. Depends what you want to primarily use it for. Always good to have a laptop though imo. Macbooks are brilliant.

Until there is a time when a tablet can do all that a laptop can, I'd rather have a laptop. Really can't see the point in having both.

Agreed. I see an iPad as somewhere between a laptop and a smartphone. Don't think it does enough on its own to make it worth having as a third similar device.

If you want to do work, or play proper games get a laptop. If you want to look a cunt on the 0824 to London Bridge get an ipad, oh and a blue tooth ear piece to go with it for the full effect.

i have an ipad with a Logitech keyboard.
Had to download apps to read and use word, excel etc etc so using it for work too.
Better as i can boot up and shut down quicker, as i need to do that a lot in my job.

Nice But Flash, a little Windows 7 netbook would have done the job with no cables

Without getting into an iMac vs PC debate as they serve completely different end user needs, but this argument doesn’t stack up. Equivalent spec pc is going to be £400-500 less to begin with and you could upgrade the pc every 3 years for less than £450.

Would imagine the build quality in a Mac would be far better. I've had my son in law's lappie since last night blue screening, due to graphics card driver issues, sorted that issue out, but there is so much flex in the base in a certain point by the dvd writer that if you pick it up there it blue screens(the worst thing is it's a natural place to pick it up), loose connection or dry joint, no doubt. Shit build quality in these budget lappies Basically you get what you pay for

I haven't got a clue what a similar spec laptop to my Macbook Pro would cost, mainly as I've never seen another laptop brand with the same level of quality. I guess maybe some of the Sony are in the ballpark but they aren't cheap.
Does anyone else use aluminium? It makes a real difference - light but still feels as solid as a lump of metal.
