I do about 40k a year so buy cars with about 60 - 70k on the clock that are reliable but old. 40,000 miles a year?! That's a lot of miles. I think we do about 8,000, roughly half of which is accounted for by a few return trips to Scotland. (Don't use the car to commute, just pay £3,000 per annum to SW Trains.)

BMW 120d, because my Mum can't drive any more so donated it to me. I want to swap it for a Mini but she won't let me yet.

Good lad! I dont own a polo neck jumper either! not had any problems with mine in 30k miles from new in 1 and a half years. Just the starter motor and alternator in 2.5 years. Mine's a 2.0SE diesel and it's no where near as economical as yours!

Every day car is a steady Audi A3 BUT I also have an MG Roadster built in 1970. Converted to a V8 about 7 years ago. No road tax and under 5000 miles a year makes fully com insurance approx £ 150. 25 miles to the gallon. If this weather goes into the weekend look out for me. Its Old English White with red leather seats.....

A ford fiesta because my A Class kept breaking down & the finance company got fed up of me not paying them while it was being fixed, i only had it on the road for 9 months of the 20 months i owned it so they swapped it for the fiesta that they had re-posessed.

No polo necked jumpers? Then the Volvo drivers amongst us must have a pair of these in the glove box: http://www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk/acatalog/x-Greycardeluxstring.jpeg In fact when I googled said gloves within the images was a picture of a Volvo
