Why are H, S & J excluding you and many others? What are they changing?
At the moment, they operate an open door drop in session (meaning you can turn up at any time and use the facility). The major change is to a day care respite system for those children that 'qualify' - we don't. Limited drop in will remain, but we would have to leave our son in the hands of HS&J Staff, who would need to feed him and address his personal care needs; again, right now, it provides us with the opportunity to enjoy time together as a family, but from next week, it will not. For those families with siblings, they are completely excluded from attending as a family as siblings would not be allowed to sit with parents. They are proposing to turn us away if the facility is deemed as 'full', which would be a pain as its a 70 mile round trip for us.
I'm not saying change is not needed, but the proposals have been railroaded through very quickly without consulting any of the parents/current service users and not properly thought through.
