Doh we get rid of Clarke and get this fella. I don't know who I dont want the most. Was expecting a lot more than this especially with the wages we had been paying for Clarke. Thought his replacement was going to be of a higher quality than this. Unless finances are now at full stretch as it's seems wray, other than the first two a games, was expecting the gate receipts to be higher than they have been.

I don't think anyone can have cause for complaint or disappointment about attendances.  Our average gate over the first 5 home games is 8,159.  Only Bradford beat that in League 2, and only 5 sides - Preston, Charlton, Huddersfield and the two Sheffield sides - in League 1.

Even stripping away the effect of the 12,113 attendance vs Oxford would leave us with an average over the remaining 4 games of 7,171, which would still give us the 2nd highest average attendance in League 2 and the 7th highest in League 1 (with Franchise being the side to move ahead of us).

As for your wider point about the squad...only time will tell.  I find myself understanding the squad less and less, but 4 wins from the last 5 tells me that maybe I just need to trust the big man.

As you well know, that is not how it works here.

Unless the signing is a premiership player that everyone has heard of, its 'he's not good enough, blah blah'

Birmingham are almost a Premiership club....

Given our experiences with Premier League strikers it's hit and miss.  Could be the next Ben Hutchinson or Jamie Slabber, or could be the next Danny Ward...

Have you not listened to a word Di Canio has said?

This fella deserves a chance but he may not even be first choice.  Di Canio said he wanted someone different to what he already has, not necessarily better.

I don't think that's true at all in this case. I think it is very easy to interpret this:

http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/9257911.It_takes_two/

Quote
“I have to tell you - and this no disrespect to Alan Connell or Mehdi Kerrouche - but we do not have a League Two player with a nasty attitude in the box,” said Di Canio. “I would have one of the strikers from a number of the teams we have met this season, I have to be honest. For example, Lewis Grabban for Rotherham and Justin Richards from Burton, I would have one of them in our side and if we did I am sure we would have six or seven points more.”

as saying we need a proven league 2 bruiser. This may have not what was intended, but you can understand why someone might be disappointed with an unproven youngster had they interpreted it that way.

Obviously any player we bring in may be good, crap or indifferent regardless.

Like Ardiles I don't understand the squad we have either, happy to suck it and see though.

He's over 6 foot, he's impressed in Brum reserves, and he's also played in League Two before. Worth a shot. If it doesn't work out we'll just have to cope with Kerrouche, Connell and Ritchie banging them in themselves.

Just read about him on wikki and it says 2 goals in 28 appearances. Clarke was rumoured to be one of the highest earners at the club so from having some who commanded a high wage to this lad just seems to be a little bit of a drop. True I have not seen him play, but from those stats I won't be expecting much so I will be easily impressed. Just my opinion, win loose or draw I still gotta go to work so I wont take it as serious as some of you seem to!

at the end of september players who would be on a good wage will not be making loan moves to L2 clubs.  as it is we may have even got this guy FOC as they were keen to send him out on loan.

also, austin would have been earning tuppence compared to what cox would have been on so i don't even get your logic, phil jones will likewise be earning much less than vidic or ferdinand but he's fucking brilliant.

also 1 goal would be infinately better value for money than clarke was - literally, regardless of how big his wage packet is
