I flew from there when I lived in london, was easy on the train from euston, got off and right outside airport, very quick to get through.
Not sure if that helps as its not from swindon

dead easy to get too and it's not a bad place.
J6 of M42. plenty of parking and a few bars inside for a beer too.
Always quick to be checked in etc aswell which is good.
what time do you have to go there etc???
rush hour is a pig around Solihull J4 & J5

depending on speed your driving i would say give yourself 1hr 45mins. if they're a slow driver i would put another 30mins on top on that

Have a look at whats on at the NEC at the time. If theres a major exhibition on (Crufts or whatever) allow more time to get round the M42 and get to a parking place.
Or you could park on my drive and I will ferry you there for a sizeable fee.
