That sounds about right! I used to live in temple quay and the state of castle park after hours was something else. It seems that Bristol parks become palygrounds for gurners when the moon's out. Unfortunately I used to work with a City fan and a Rovers fan. I had to suffer the rovers drubbings and the City relegation. As soon as redundancy hits, we fucking win!

Correct. Some of the classic places (such as the Thekla) used to have someone of interest playing every week. I haven't heard of anyone playing there for about a year that's tickled my fancy. Having said that the Bristol music scene tends to go with the trends and dubstep just doesn't do it for me. However Tim, I know you crazy Dutch love a good all night pilled up hardcore event so you might have a great time!

Well I prefer indie music (arctic monkeys, arcade fire, blood red shoes, courteeners, kasabian etc) but on a night out I also like dance or even cheesy. English nightlife is quite an experience for dutch people, especially the way the women/girls are dressed

The thekla is now owned by the people who own the social in nottingham and it still has a lot of indie gigs on.

I recommend the manchester orchestra on the 2nd october.  Bristols music scene is pretty disparate with a lot of small venues that go in and out of fashion.

I would also recommend having a pre-match 'Football Special' at the chip shop 'The Frying Fish', which is just over the road from the ground. They get a bit busy on matchdays, but it's worth it.

Also get into Swindon early as Wovers chavs have a bit of a reputation over the last few years against us and there will be a big police presence at the train station, which is just outside the town centre, and 10-15 mins walk to the ground.

Before the Crewe match we saw about a dozen loads of 'something and chips' on the floor from that place. Either the food was terrible, or the bags they were using were feeble, or over vinegered!!

They must have been over vinegered. I walked home with a bag of cips after Saturday's game and I had no problems, and I have had no problems with the chips...ever.

I support Ajax. Seasonticketholder as well. Grew up with it. My family originally is from Amsterdam.

Do you have any tips on getting access to tickets for Ajax?

I follow Ajax and have been to a handful games at the Arena over the last few years.
Am looking to get to a match again this season but find that getting tickets isn't easy as the club will only sell to those outside Netherlands with an expensive package.
In past years I've used TicketUnlimited but end up paying a hefty mark-up.

Considering it is always really busy I think they do great food and you don't get ripped off either. The guy who owns it does go to the occasional Swindon match too.

York Road is the best chippie in Swindon and about 5 minutes further away.

Although they do charge for Ketchup, which always annoys me in a Chip Shop. Just make the damn things 20p more expensive, I won't notice that.

Is that the one sort of behind the fire station, maybe chinese owned ? If that's the one you mean, agree thats really good too and most of the time because it's a bit out of sight it's not half as busy.

Perhaps you could do a deal with Tim K, buy his gas ticket and see if you can borrow his season ticket.

I know it's hard for people from abroad to get tickets. As a seasonticketholder it's possible for me to buy a few (max 4) seats extra. But not for all games (for example home games against feyenoord and psv). TicketUnlimited sells expensive tickets I know. Unfortunately I dont know any other legal ways of getting access. If you like Im willing to buy tickets for you? Just let me know.
