Let’s be honest here and not sell ourselves short. Even if we didn’t go up FGR would be a massive step down and the novelty soon seems to run out there. If they struggle next season as seems likely it’ll be a challenge for them to maintain home supporter numbers in 4 figures. I also think there has been a bit of a shift with players and managers placing greater importance on playing in front of decent crowds following a season of behind closed door matches. I think they will struggle to recruit in league 1 and with Adam’s and Cadden going have already lost their best players from this season.

Thing is lots of players are financial mercenaries and DV will pay high wages at FGR, so they could have a half decent side but I hope they don't do too well. A lot will depend on the new manager and who he can attract.

Not sure that’s so much the case now and he’ll get in a right strop when he sees the level of wages he is competing with in L1. He’s so focused on the Eco Park nonsense that is likely to suck up what money he has. He’s even put Ecotricity up for sale.

Garner is onto such a good thing here, him and Chorley seem to see eye to eye and he's been given the autonomy to play and train players exactly how he sees the game, his experience at Rovers will also be a factor.  One wrong move at the wrong time could see him back to coaching the kids although at probably a decent size club.

Just to confirm I won’t be paying any wages at FGR, let alone high ones.

Forest Green are seen to be losing half their squad with a few out of contract in the summer being tapped up by Championship clubs so think FGR will struggle next season unless they splash some cash. It’s a rebuild job there but even with the new stadium, they lack aspiration IMO.

Watford of the North!

To be fair since the MU old boys took over in 2014 this is only the 5th managerial change. That's probably below average. We've had nine or ten in that time, more if you include caretakers. We've chewed through six permanent managers since 2018, Wellens being the only one to start more than one season.

Since Macari left in 89 there have been 40 people sitting at the managers desk at the County Ground in total in what 33 years.

That makes us seem a lot more like Watford than them but we've been pretty frigging unstable throughout so it's not like we sacked all of them.

Seeing as you asked...

Left for better/less chaotic things (11): Ardiles, Hoddle, Todd, Evans, Wise, Sturrock, Di Canio, MacDonald, Ling, Flitcroft, Wellens

Sacked by us (13): Gorman (72 games), McMahon (204), Quinn (85), King twice (39 & 193 games), Onuora (40), Malpas (42), Wilson (120), Hart (11, only ever temporary from memory), Cooper (125), Williams (75), Brown (32), Sheridan (33)

The rest were various flavours of caretaker/temp.

It's only really the last five years or so we've got a bit sack happy.

Point of order, Flitcroft fucked off into the charms of Mansfield for which we got some folding stuff I believe.

We have undoubtedly had loads of managers, but that includes shed loads of caretakers in the last 20 odd years,
